Forlorn
A boat on the open dessert,
Standing alone in the khaki breeze,
One side dusted with gold stone.
The water swam away,
Leaving canyons on the beach.
An ordinary fork misplaced in a box of knives,
Inanimate and forgotten, it is left to drown.
White And Red
I rub the powder of wings into my fingers,
As the bullets tear skin.
They crush it in their hands,
As the reaction occurs.
Almost everybody falls, from every force,
‘Lucky’ is wrongly worded as ‘brave’.
A piece of fabric is the prize,
For dying to help them, stopping them rise.
Everybody’s down now, everybody falls,
Over the land that belongs to us all.
It flutters to a stop and dies.
Afterlife
I wish I could believe in,
Something after death,
Something to look towards,
As I draw a final breath.
It’s not because I’m afraid,
But because then I’d find,
A reason for the routine life,
We lead so dry and blind.
I imagine it’s like a dream you never wake from,
A dream where you can feel,
A dream that isn’t haunted,
It’s a dream that isn’t real.
poems about liars friends
The Hole
Only I can see it,
From the bottom of this hole,
The essence of my being,
The spilling of my soul.
Heart Pieces
My tears dribble,
My throat’s stuck for a ‘coo’,
I crawl and try to stand, but fall.
My heart is shattered to pieces,
Seven years bad luck,
Each piece grows back whole,
Each one; taken by a rook.
Four to be exact, four hearts,
But none in return, I have
None to hold. Not even debris to crumble between my fingers.
Two I’ve shared a touch with,
Two I’d like to touch,
When I see one, the others fade,
My will is my soul’s crutch.
Push and twang a wire,
But I will never forget,
One piece I followed,
My destiny is set.
Into darkness I followed,
I didn’t think ahead,
I hit a whole a tumbled down,
I fell through my head.
The path tortures me,
Pulls my flesh on a rack,
I lost all my four pieces,
And I want my pieces back.
Liminality (Between)
A road between two paths,
Half in, half out the bath.
No man’s land between two places,
A look of love between two faces.
Limbo, neither life nor death,
The space left open between a breath.
One foot in, one foot out,
Between a whisper and a shout.
Neither here nor there,
Not clothed or bare.
A liquid – neither solidpoems about liars friends or gas,
The air between two sheets of glass.
Day and night, the time of twilight,
Grey, the crossing of dark and light.
Dreaming, neither awake nor sleeping,
A steady walk, not running or creeping.
A creature of myth, not this or that,
Half human, half horse or dog or bat.
Liminality between all and nothing,
Somewhere between being born and a coffin.
Grenadier
One pushed crocodile tear,
Slithers past your serpent eyes,
I’m moving on in a low gear,
Wading through the sighs.
You’re too tired to care?
Well, I’m too tired to share,
Same old imagery used again,
Same old words, from the same old pen.
It’s not what I’m here for,
I’m here just to speak,
Speak several falls away,
Then, steadily, walk away.
Blame it on the liar,
A nobody scapegoat,
Pin it on the background,
It’s the same colour.
Whatever does it matter,
It’ll end up all the same,
Served on a different platter,
The fate that never came.
Sorrow’s a fairly strong word,
But it’s a fairly strong feeling,
Through my veins in a herd,
Cover the hole in the ceiling.
It lasted as best it could,
The last grenade – a dud.
I loved all 7 of the poems. They were beautiful and just darling
all 4 were really good. great use of vocabulary
